Bacon Roses for Valentines

I’ve seen this on Pinterest so many times and at last I’ve got around to making them, and they were sooooooo easy! Don’t let the Pinterest Fails put you off, honestly they must’ve been trying to make them with their feet!! This is simple, I promise.

What you’ll need to make a dozen red, bacon roses;

  • 24 slices of streaky bacon
  • 1 tbsp golden caster sugar
  • 24 cocktail sticks
  • 24 long wooden skewers
  • Sprigs of bay leaves and sage leaves (optional)

🌹 Preheat the oven to 375f/190c

🌹 Take one rasher of streaky bacon and, with any fatty rind put to the bottom of the ‘Rose’ start to roll it, not too tightly. Once it’s in a neat roll take a second piece and continue to roll it around the first roll.

🌹 Secure the ‘Rose’ with a wooden toothpick and stand in a cupcake/muffin tin. Sprinkle with some golden caster sugar (or next time I might brush them with maple syrup).

🌹 Pop them in the hot oven for around 10-15 minutes.

🌹 Take out and allow to cool. Carefully remove the wooden toothpick and insert a long wooden skewer into the base as a stem.

🌹 I added some sage and bay leaves from the garden to make them into a real bouquet.

I have to say that this bouquet of roses has just the most amazing scent!!! And His verdict………… delicious!!!
